Today two of the more popular Sooner blogs posted links to a video on bobstoops.com, leaving many wondering where in the world the website came from. As it turns out it's been around for a while. The domain name was first registered on May 19, 2000 and according the Internet Archive was an active website from 2001 to 2007 and carried the disclaimer "This site is not affiliated with Bob Stoops, or the University of Oklahoma".

The first mention of Stoops and/or OU using the domain name that I can find is a mention of it in the Oklahoma Sooners Blog on November 22, 2006:

Bob Stoops Website in the works: Asked on Tuesday if he had thought about launching his own Web site -- www.BobStoops.com -- the Oklahoma head football coach's response drew uncontrolled laughter. "What do you do with it?" he asked the questioner. Then, Stoops revealed the truth. "Yeah," he said, "I'm working on one. I think." The OU Internet Technology department is developing a site that will be devoted strictly to Sooner football, particularly recruiting. The name is still fluid, as is the content and presentation, but BobStoops.com is a strong possibility.

Skipping ahead a few years to August 12, 2008, Berry Tramel of The Oklahoman made mention of it in his column titled "Lyrics on Stoops site embarrassing for OU":

Buried deep within some of the highlight videos of bobstoops.com, a Web site I didn't even know existed until the weekend, were some lyrics of interest.

And now, today, the re-tooled site is evidently being officially re-launched judging from this blurb on SoonerScoop (Rivals OU website):

No one will ever mistake Bob Stoops for someone who is technologically savvy. When text messages were all the recruiting rage several years ago, Stoops adapted, even though he said he still had to have people print out his emails so he could read them.

But Stoops is catching up with the times with a revamped personal website at BobStoops.com.
