The popular OU and sometimes other stuff blog Red Dirt Kings has gone dark. Last RSS feed entry reads: Sorry, Folks. We're Closed. I somehow missed this tragic loss to the Sooner blogosphere about ten days ago, but being the off-season these things happen. On a bright note the RDK Twitter feed is still active: http://twitter.com/RedDirtKings. In memorium, I have preserved two of RDK's last posts:
Dirt Monkey's last post from March 30:
Well, RDKers, a sad day has come. On Thursday, April 1, RDK will officially close its doors. After almost three years, more than 1,000 posts and 3,700 comments, it’s time for us all to move on to bigger, better ventures. We had our ups, we had our downs, but our time constraints don’t allow us to give RDK the dedication it most definitely deserves. If you follow the RDK Twitter feed we’ll keep that open and still provide snarky commentary and useful links. So, at least RDK will live on in spirit. I’d also like to thank all those involved over the years:
And, most importantly, all of you. From a pathetic little site that I built one day during lunch to something somewhat successul that gains tens of thousands of views a month, we wouldn’t have made it this long without you. With that said, the RDK reader awards are as follows:
Most Dedicated — Brown If you didn’t get mentioned, that means you didn’t visit enough. Shame on you. You should hear from both Gravy and ST tomorrow. No clue about MK, but I wouldn’t hold my breath if I was you. Godspeed, RDK. This is Dirt Monkey … signing off.
