Ken Pryor, hero in OU's 1947 NCAA basketball victory, dies at 85 PDF Print E-mail

(by Berry Tramel) NORMAN -- Ken Pryor, who banked in the game-winning shot in OU's 1947 NCAA basketball semifinal victory over Texas, died Tuesday. He was 85.

Pryor's basket with less than 10 seconds left beat Texas 55-54 and put the Sooners in the national title game against Bob Cousy and Holy Cross.

Pryor's two-handed set shot came from the left wing. "I don’t remember shooting like that all year, or ever again, really," Pryor said....read more from The Oklahoman

A Sooners team ranked No. 17 in the preseason AP poll and picked by Big 12 Conference coaches to finish third in the league posted a 13-18 overall record and tied for ninth place in the Big 12.
