Oklahoma is likely to start the season as the nation's top-ranked team and a favorite to win the national championship. The defending Big 12 champions who finished 12-2 last season are loaded with talent and experience. Quarterback Landry Jones and wide receiver Ryan Broyles are among the nation's best at their positions. The offensive line returns four starters. Jones completed over 65 percent of his passes and threw for 38 touchdowns. Broyles led the nation with 131 receptions and had 14 touchdowns. Sophomore receiver Kenny Stills had 61 receptions as a freshman. The defense returns seven starters and could be one of the best of the Bob Stoops Era. The defense is led by senior linebacker Travis Lewis. Sophomore linebacker Corey Nelson had an outstanding spring and defensive coordinator Brent Venables will have to find a way to get him on the field. The biggest areas of concern are replacing do-it-all running back DeMarco Murray and a secondary that is talented but lacks game experience. Oklahoma figures to replace Murray with several different running backs. Both safeties will be new and cornerback Jamel Fleming's status is uncertain. An all-Big 12 selection who led the Sooners with five interceptions, Fleming is not enrolled in school and missed spring practice because of academic issues. Despite having to replace three starters, Stoops thinks this year's secondary could be even better than last year's. Posted on YouTube May 11th, 2011 by Big12Conference
